Primary Sites:
* Deuce (Garber review) *****
Smaller portions -- somewhere between tapas and full entrée size -- and an open and airy environment make Executive Chef Courtney Burnham's Deuce worth a visit to North Van's Upper Lonsdale. Five stars. [More]

Capones Restaurant & Live Jazz Club (Garber review) ****
Besides the changes in Yaletown over the years, Capones owner, Rob Gietl proved to be something of a visionary, bringing his own changes to the restaurant and club aspects of the establishment. [More]

Deluxe Moderne Burger (Garber review) ****
If fifties-era diners still have a place in our world, you will likely only find them reincarnated with any degree of authenticity in very few places. One of these exceptions-to-the-rule is Deluxe Moderne Burger in Vancouver's Kitsilano. [More]

Hyatt Regency Vancouver -- MOSAIC -- Easter brunch, 2008 *

Indigo Bistro in the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel *
Being here is like actually being in an art picture. Indigo's colourful décor features tapestries, artworks by local artists and artisans (paintings and blown glass), wood floors and white table linens. The lunch menu changes every Monday, affording something new and different each week. And the bar offers over 40 single- and double-malt scotches, with a wine list of over 150 wines ranging from $30 to $750 per bottle. [More]

Kaplan's Star Deli ****
Listen, bubeleh, oy, you'll kvell! Food that schmecks, and enough to satisfy the biggest fresser in the crowd. The corned beef is imported directly from Chicago (as are many of the Kosher salamis); there's real New York-style pickled tongue, smoked meat brought in from Montréal, and Ida Kaplan's -- the original Mrs. Kaplan's own recipes –- for chopped liver, eggplant spread and gefilte fish. The noisy extended-family atmosphere is a plus. Many vegetarian (dairy) choices. Home and office catering, too, condolence catering, and "Real Meals Family-Style Take-out Dinners," from $8.95 per person. [More]

Lumiere (Lumière) *****
Undoubtedly Vancouver's best stand-alone restaurant, Lumière offers an environment of both luxury and restraint. Chef Robert Feenie presides, and Executive Chef Daren Bergeron adds all the wisdom of a Quebec culinary heritage -- with modern innovations. [More]

Mosaic Bar and Grille *****
Esther Kwok reviews this new incarnation of previous in-house restaurants at the Vancouver Hyatt, and gives it an unprecedented...FIVE STARS! [More]

Tourism Vancouver Partners with the Salvation Army and 125 Local Restaurants... *
Tourism Vancouver is using the wildly popular Dine Out Vancouver 2005 restaurant promotion as a vehicle to support the work of the Salvation Army in addressing both local needs, as well as international relief efforts for tsunami victims. [More]

Secondary Sites:
* Nando's Chickenland restaurants (Garber review) ****
With Nando's, we know we can always find an affordable feast, custom-spiced to the degree we like, where we can get to eat in pleasant surroundings, where we really feel that we are being served and treated to a comfortable family dining experience. Basically, first-rate family dining at fast-food prices. [More]

Capones Restaurant & Live Jazz Club (Kwok review) ****
Capones, long known for providing fantastic jazz north of the Mason Dixon line, also provides very good fare for jazz and non-jazz aficionados alike. A more-recent review has been written by Food Editor Anne Garber. [More]

CinCin *****
CinCin has received many notable honours for wine list, cuisine and overall ambience. Over 10 years of an ambitious and accomplished restaurant repertoire keep the local and international clientele (and visiting celebrities) returning again and again. [More]

CinCin (reviewed by Anne Garber) *****
There's that wonderful element of surprise (an expectation always fulfilled) that Chef will deliver some ultimate culinary triumph, and our most recent visit to CinCin was no exception. [More]

Dubrulle in the Park *
Already an important tourist attraction for visitors, Vancouverites will be delighted to have a reason to rediscover this lovely historic building, a complement to both the culinary school and the park. [More]

Garber Gastronomic: Canucks at Blue Water *
The life of a food critic is full of hard choices. Especially if said food critic is also a hockey fan. Now please note that I did not say that the life of a food critic is hard; I know how good I've got it, when I'm invited out to fancy restaurants to savour brilliant food creations in a charming, mannerly environment. What I said was: The life of a food critic is full of hard choices. [More]
